Public Transport
MUNI has several different lines that pass near the Masonic Auditorium. The California Street Cable Car stops at California and Taylor. The 1 California bus stops at Sacramento and Jones (westbound) and Clay and Taylor (eastbound). The Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason Cable Car stop at Powell and California (2 blocks east). The 27 Bryant bus stops at Leavenworth and California (northbound- 1 block west) or at Hyde and Sacramento (southbound- 2 blocks west). All of the previously mentioned lines connect with Market Street buses. The BART station that is closest to the auditorium is the Powell Street Station (it is a hike up Powell Street to the top of Nob Hill, or you can take the Powell Cable Car up the hill). Another option is to take BART to the Embarcadero station and either walk up California Street (about 11 blocks), take the California Street Cable Car, take the 1 California bus (from Sacramento and Davis), or take a taxi (there are many available near the large hotels around the Embarcadero).
By Car
From the Peninsula: Stay on Highway 101 North; Take the 9th
Street/Civic Center Exit. Turn left on 9th Street. Immediately
merge into the right two lanes as 9th Street will split into
Larkin Street. Continue on Larkin to California Street. Turn
right on California and go up the hill to the Masonic on the
right just past Jones Street.
From the Bay Bridge: After crossing over the Bay Bridge, stay
to the right and take the Fremont Street Exit. Turn left onto
Fremont and go five blocks to California Street. Turn left on
California and go up the hill 11 blocks to the Masonic on the
left, just past Taylor Street.
From the Golden Gate Bridge: After crossing the bridge, stay
to the right and take the Downtown/Lombard Exit. Continue on
Lombard for 12 blocks and turn right on Gough (Goff) Street.
Continue 11 more blocks to California Street. Turn left on California
and proceed up the hill to the Masonic on the right, just past
Jones Street.
From Bart: Take Bart to the Embarcadero Station. Exit the Drumm/California
Stairway. Walk two blocks to California. Walk up California
to the top of the hill , to the Masonic on the left, just past
Taylor Street. From the Transbay Bus Terminal: Walk four blocks
north to California Street. Walk up California to the top of
the hill , to the Masonic on the left, just past Taylor Street.
From Downtown: Walk up California to the top of the hill , to
the Masonic on the left, just past Taylor Street. To take the
Bus, Go to Sacramento and Davis and catch the #1 California
MUNI Bus. Get off at the stop between Mason & Taylor. Walk one
block on Taylor to the Masonic at California and Taylor Streets.
From the West: Take the #1 California MUNI Bus to Taylor and
Clay streets and walk two blocks on Taylor to the Masonic at
Taylor and California.
