About This Performance
This young and innovative company, led by former New York City Ballet resident choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, is re-imagining ballet for the modern world. For this matinee, the company will demonstrate how Wheeldon's dances put an exciting new twist on a classic art form.
Using excerpts from his dances Continuum and Rhapsody
Fantaisie, Christopher Wheeldon demonstrates how he builds his work, as his dancers, in full costume, illustrate his explanations. The audience of children and their families will delight in this one-hour presentation, which includes a Q&A with Mr. Wheeldon.
Artist Biography
Newly formed but already receiving international acclaim, Morphoses was founded by Christopher Wheeldon and Lourdes Lopez with the fundamental goal of revitalizing contemporary, classical ballet by marrying dance, music, visual arts, and design. The troupe, which debuted in the U.S. in 2007, includes some of the foremost members of New York City Ballet and the Royal Ballet of Britain.
